Mr. Lotzer,
I have owned a 1964
Cessna 310 for over five years. This aircraft has been meticulously
maintained
and pampered since I took possession. The one irritant
was, after flying for one hour, it took ten minutes
to wipe the oil
residue from the lower cowls and gear doors from the blow-by of the
air-oil separator.
My mechanic/I.A. talked
me into removing the wet vacuum pumps and replacing them with Rapco
dry
pumps at the last annual. I question why I waited so long. After
15 hours of flight, I have not touched the
lower cowls or gear doors
to wipe off excess oil. Why anyone would fly with wet pumps is beyond
me.
