Subject : Beech 1900 axle spacer, PN RFS6095
Date: April 14, 1999
Page: 1 of 1
Revision: 1: 14 Apr/99 issued
Reason: Eliminate confusion created by ABSC Service Letter Beech 1900-SL-5
Effectivity: RFS114-810022-1K & RFS6095
Comments: Axle spacer part number RFS6095 is FAA-PMA approved. The spacer is authorized by the FAA. The FAA is the only party from which authorization is needed. The axle is approved for installation on 1900, 1900C & 1900D.
To directly refute erroneous statements:
1. The FAA and its representatives determined that there is no problem
with wheel well fit, as incorrectly stated by the above referenced ABSC
service letter. RFS performed the required fit, form and function tests
in order to earn the PMA.
2. The load distribution change caused by the 0.060" movement from
original position yielded insignificant change in axle loading, as determined
and verified by FAA representatives prior to approval.
3. Similarly, the 0.060" movement was determined to cause no performance
decline for those systems operating with antiskid.
The rework required by ABSC Beech 1900-SL-5 is a good solution to fixing the design problem generated by ABSC. Raytheon has not rejected the solution offered by RFS. The solution offered by RFS prevented aircraft from being grounded due to the original brake designer's flaw. The RFS spacer was and still is a viable alternative to maintaining airworthiness and profitability for 1900 operators. For additional PMA support documentation, please contact RFS at (262) 367-6210.
