"With the increasing age of the world aircraft fleet out there, we are seeing an alarming number of vacuum pump
cores and warranty pumps come back with small pieces of rubber in them..."
No, fellow aviation family, the sky is not falling. Vacuum
pump 'Service Bulletins' are just another crystal-clear
weasel
tactic drummed up by some corporate shill. As a quick reminder:
The FAA approves components for
use on U.S. Type Certified aircraft.
Not the OEM, Not the T.C. - Only the FAA. Therefore, the use of
the
word 'mandatory' for compliance is ignorable. The transparent
attempt by T.C. holders to make sure they
continue to make money
selling parts is despicable and underhanded. The blatant transfer
of liability to aviation
mechanics for vacuum pump continued airworthiness
is unconscionable. Next thing they'll be doing is issuing
"Service
Bulletins" stating that you can only buy Burger King®
Whoppers® if you own a Cessna 150 - Oh,
and compliance would
be mandatory. What an inconsiderate way to take
advantage of the hard working
American. I'm ashamed.
